Refund policy acknowledgement
Tuition is due at enrollment unless we have issued you a written monthly payment plan.

You may cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund of tuition, less the payment processing fee charged to us, which is 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. The cancellation window closes at 12:00 AM ET on the first day of the semester, even if fewer than 14 days have passed since purchase. After the window closes there is no refund, whether or not the student attends or completes the class.

Instead of cancelling, you may defer the enrollment to another Flex class if you notify us before 12:00 AM ET on the first day of the semester. The replacement class must begin within 12 months of the original enrollment date. If the replacement class has a different price, you pay the difference or receive a credit for the balance. Each enrollment may be deferred once.

If we cancel a class for insufficient enrollment or any other reason, you may choose a substitute class or a full refund of tuition paid for that class, including processing fees.

A student dismissed for a violation of the Code of Student Conduct, for an academic integrity violation, or for academic reasons receives no credit and no refund for the then-current semester.

To request a refund or deferral, email [email protected] with your student's name and enrollment date. Refunds are processed within 10 business days.

Terms of enrollment acknowledgement
Your student's classes. Dual Academy Flex classes are college classes from NewU University, taught by NewU professors. College credit is awarded by NewU University on an official NewU University transcript. NewU University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Whether another college or university accepts NewU University credit is that institution's decision, and we do not guarantee transfer. Flex enrollment does not award a high school diploma; your student remains enrolled at their current school or homeschool program.

Orientation and the semester. Orientation is Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10AM Eastern/9AM Central, and all Flex students are expected to attend. Classes begin Monday, August 31, 2026. Assignments and assessments must be completed by the deadlines the professor posts and by the end of the semester to earn credit.

Attending class and lecture recording. Classes are taught in NewU University classrooms that connect students attending online with students attending in person. Class lectures are recorded, including video, audio, and whatever the professor presents on screen. The classrooms use a 360 degree camera and microphone placed among the seats, so a recording of a lecture with in-person attendance captures the room and the people in it, including students other than your own. Only lectures are recorded; advising, wellbeing, and disciplinary conversations are not. A student attending live is expected to have their camera on. A student who prefers not to appear in a recording may attend by watching the recording instead, subject to the deadlines above. Google Meet shows an on-screen indicator to everyone while recording is active, and the professor says at the start of each lecture that it is being recorded.

Recordings: who holds them and for how long. NewU Inc. is the custodian of lecture recordings. They are stored in NewU Inc.'s Google Workspace for Education environment with sharing restricted. They are not public, not posted to the internet, and not searchable. Access is limited to the professor, the students enrolled in that class, and designated academic administrators of NewU University and Dual Academy. Students may watch recordings of their own classes but may not download, copy, re-post, or share them. Recordings are kept for one academic year and then deleted, unless one must be preserved for an investigation or by law. Recordings are not sold, are not used for advertising or marketing, and are not used to train artificial intelligence systems.

Exams and proctoring. Some classes include exams or quizzes taken online, and Dual Academy may use remote proctoring software for those assessments. Remote proctoring runs inside the Chrome browser and may record the student's webcam, microphone, and screen during the assessment, and may limit other browser activity while the assessment is open. Families are notified before the first proctored assessment in a class.

Who is in the class. Your student may share a class with adult NewU University degree students and with Dual Academy Live and Campus students, both in the room and online.

Technology and accounts. Your student needs a computer, the Chrome browser, a working webcam and microphone, and home internet of at least 5 Mbps down and up. The full requirements are at https://dualacademy.org/tech and are part of these terms. Dual Academy issues each student a @newu.university Google account at enrollment, used for class access, Google Meet, and Populi. Class communication happens on that account.

Payments and refunds. Tuition is due at enrollment unless we have issued you a written payment plan. Where a payment plan agreement and these terms differ, the payment plan agreement controls. Failed payments pause enrollment until resolved. The cancellation, refund, and deferral terms are stated in the Refund Policy above.

Communications. You authorize Dual Academy to contact you and your student by email and text message about enrollment, classes, payments, and academic progress. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts.

Policies that apply. The Dual Academy Student and Family Handbook, published at https://dualacademy.org/policies, and the Dual Academy Privacy Policy, published at https://dualacademy.org/privacy, are both part of these terms. Where these terms and the Handbook address the same subject, these terms control.

Dispute resolution. Concerns are raised first through the grievance process in Policy 44 of the Student and Family Handbook. A dispute that is not resolved internally is settled by binding individual arbitration in Washington, DC, administered by the American Arbitration Association, and not in court. You and Dual Academy each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class or collective action. Dual Academy pays the arbitration filing and arbitrator fees except for a filing contribution equal to a DC small-claims filing fee, waived on a showing of inability to pay. Claims of abuse or physical injury to a minor student, small-claims cases, actions for injunctive relief, mandated reporter obligations, complaints to accreditors or regulators, and government agency actions are not covered by arbitration. A parent or guardian accepting these terms binds the minor student to this section where the law permits.

Liability. Dual Academy does not guarantee any particular academic result, grade, rate of progress, scholarship, financial aid, admission to or acceptance of credit by any other institution, or employment. Dual Academy's total liability arising out of enrollment is limited to the tuition paid for the then-current semester, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Internal corporate matters of Dual Academy Corp. are separately governed by Delaware law under its Bylaws and Certificate of Incorporation, and these terms do not change that.

For a student under 18, the parent or legal guardian is the contracting party and is responsible for payment.

Minimum technology requirements acknowledgement
Computer. A laptop or desktop running Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS, with the current version of the Google Chrome browser. A phone or tablet is not enough for class; some class tools do not work on them.

Camera and microphone. A working webcam and microphone. Built in is fine. Headphones or earbuds are strongly recommended, because they prevent echo and make discussion easier for everyone.

Internet. At least 5 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Test yours at speedtest.net. A wired connection is more reliable than Wi-Fi if you have the option.

Account. Dual Academy issues each student a @newu.university Google account at enrollment, used for Google Meet, class materials, and Populi. Please have your student sign in and check it before the first class.

A place to work. Somewhere quiet, with your student's face lit from the front rather than a bright window behind them.

Exams. Some classes include online exams or quizzes that may use remote proctoring software inside the Chrome browser. Families are notified before the first proctored assessment in a class.

If something is not working, email [email protected] or text 202-968-1005 before class day rather than during it.
