The Design

How we built the smarter high school.

Dual Academy fuses grades 11 and 12 with college, using a curriculum built around the three skills that matter most in today's workplace. Here's how the design works.

The Three Pillars

Soft skills. Business acumen. AI proficiency.

The three skill sets that matter most in today’s job market – and the least taught in most high schools. Every Dual Academy class is built around them.

Entry-level jobs are changing fast. AI is taking over routine tasks. Your student learns how to work with AI instead of competing with it, how to think through a business problem, and how to work with people. Graduates don’t just get their first job. They grow into the leaders of their first job.

Better than AP or Dual Enrollment

More college credit. Less hassle.

Almost every Dual Academy class is a college class that also counts for high school credit. Your student earns up to 40 college credits per year – more than AP, more than state dual enrollment programs.

No summer classes. No weekend catch-up. No evening sessions. No course overloads. No hidden fees. No schedule conflicts, commuting, or state red tape.

Double-duty classes

One class. Two types of credits.

Dual Academy’s college classes are designed to count for both college and high school. Your student takes one class and earns credit toward both a high school diploma and a college degree. 40 college credits per year. 80 by graduation.

Our partner NewU University is the first 3-year, 120-credit bachelor’s degree college in the U.S. and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Your student can take the 80 credits to another university, or finish a bachelor’s in just one more year at NewU – on campus or online.

How the program runs

Live classes. College professors. Real-world teamwork.

Classes are live and taught by college professors and industry practitioners. Your student talks, presents, collaborates. Same classmates each week.

Outside of class, students work in small teams of 4 to 5 on real-world projects, assignments, and some exams — the way professionals actually work. Not passive screen time.

Regular school calendar. Typical high school workload. No extra classes, no weekend catch-up.

Student Support

Online doesn’t mean alone.

Every student gets monthly one-on-one coaching with a dedicated advisor — for academics, career planning, and whatever else comes up.

Regular parent-teacher conferences. Always-on access to grades and progress.

Orientation, graduation, and major community events on NewU University’s campus in Washington, DC are optional but open to every family.
